Clark Henry "Bub" Bonesteel, 77, formerly of Port Ewen, died Monday, September 5, 2011 at the Highland Nursing Home in Massena, NY. He was born August 23, 1934 in Kingston, NY to the late Clark Bonesteel and Beatrice (Polhemus) Bonesteel.
He attended Kingston High School and then went on to work for Montella's Fruit Farm in Ulster Park for many years before moving to N. Bangor in 1979. He later went to the Pioneer School for the Blind in Syracuse where he learned how to cane chairs.
He loved spending time with his family and although he was blind he could recognize people by their voices after hearing only one word. He also loved coffee, apples and cider doughnuts.
Clark is survived by his siblings; Bruce Bonesteel Sr. and his wife Arleen of N. Bangor, NY, Richard Bonesteel and his wife Betty of Tucson, AZ, Wayne Bonesteel of Kingston, Marge Robinson of Kingston and Beatrice McCarthy and her husband Jack of Stafford, VA, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is predeceased by his sister Dorothy Burt and his niece Suzie Howell.
Entrusted to the care of the Keyser Funeral Service, Inc., 216 Broadway, Port Ewen, NY 12466 where friends may call on Friday from 4 - 7 pm at the funeral home.
Services will be held Saturday at 10:00 AM at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at Wiltwyck Cemetery, Kingston.
The family suggests in lieu of flowers memorial donations be made to American Cancer Society, 95 Schwenk Drive, Kingston, NY 12401
