Clarence Van De Mark, Jr., 68, of Kingston, NY, went home with the Lord on Friday, November 8, 2024. He was born on September 24, 1956 in Kingston, NY and was the son of the late Clarence Van De Mark, Sr. and Lillian Coleman-Van De Mark.
Clarence was best known as “The Executive Chef” in New York City. But here in Kingston, he was known as “Apple or Brother”. Chef Van De Mark specialized in Continental, Seafood, Italian, and Brazilian fine dining. He was renowned for his satiating culinary style coupled with his stellar customer connectivity. Chef Vandemark exhibits parallel creativity and passion in his devotion to preparing a memorable meal that consistently garner returning guest. With more than 30 years of culinary experience his illustrations in culinary, attractive celebrities and politician figures. Chef Van De Mark was recognized by his peers for his revolutionary culinary skills and received numerous awards. Chef Van De Mark appeared on several television programs such as Dr. Oz Show, Top Chef, personal invited to Star Jones home to collaborate about southern cuisines, titled “A Seat at the Chef Table” and Good Morning America. He was the recipient of 2007 Winner of the Culinary Choice Award. During his last days, he continued to contribute to the Ulster County Correctional Facility, where he taught the inmates a culinary trade for re-entry into the workforce.
He is survived by his partner, Marquita Henderson, his children D’metriotis Van De Mark and Clarence Anthony Van De Mark, III, his granddaughter, Alexandra Leger. His siblings, Lillian (Stan) Francis, Patricia Van De Mark, Ronald Van De Mark, Kenneth Van De Mark and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, and many friends.
Arrangements entrusted to Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, Inc., 326 Albany Avenue, Kingston, NY 12401, where family and friends may visit on Thursday, November 21, 2024 from 11am to 12pm. A service will take place at 12pm. Burial will follow at Wiltwyck Cemetery. There will be a repass from 3pm to 5pm located in the lobby at 304 Flatbush Avenue, Kingston, NY.
