Clarence L. Jackson, 92, a lifetime resident of East Kingston, died Sunday, June 6, 2010 at The Northern Dutchess Hospital, Rhinebeck, NY. He was born March 4, 1918 in Kingston, NY to the late Oscar and Lottie Jackson.
He was married to Roselyn Jackson who passed away in 1998.
Clarence was a Private First Class in the United States Army and served during World War II in the 1359th Engineer Dump Truck Company.
He then returned home and worked as a Brick Maker for the brick yards in Kingston for 20 years.
Clarence was a member of the Paradise Soul Saving Station in Kingston for 40 years where he served faithfully as Chairman of the Deacon Board and in many other capacities. He enjoyed working on old automobiles and loved to fish for shad on the Hudson.
Clarence is survived by his sons Albert Washington of Rhinecliff, David Jackson of East Kingston and Curtis Jackson of Los Angelos, a brother Arthur Jackson of East Kingston, a sister Amanda Jones of East Kingston and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is predeceased by his sons, Clarence Jackson Jr. and Andrew Jackson and a daughter Charlotte Jackson Manning.
Entrusted to the care of the A. Carr & Son Funeral Home, 65 Lucas Ave, Kingston, NY 12401, where services will be held on Sunday at 4:00 pm at the funeral home.
Burial will be in New Paltz Rural Cemetery on Monday June 14th at 11:00 AM.
