Christine Bruno

Christine Bruno, 100, of Kingston, NY, passed away on Thursday, June 6, 2024, at Health Alliance Hospital in Kingston, NY. She was born on October 17, 1923, in Philadelphia, PA and was the daughter of the late Justo Rios and Mary Frangello. 

Chris was raised in “Easta” Kingston and was brought up in the restaurant business, where she continued as a waitress for over 60 years. She and her first husband, along with her brother, Gene Rios and wife Pat, owned and operated the Cedar Rest Restaurant in Kingston for many years. She waitressed at many fine restaurants but most will remember her for her 32 years at the Skytop Steakhouse. 

Her hobbies included cooking, baking and spending time in her yard, tending to her flowers and plants. She was an avid bowler and was inducted into the Kingston Bowling Hall of Fame as Senior Bowler of the Year! She loved socializing at a bar, drinking her Pinot Grigio. But most of all, she loved being with her family. 

She is survived by her children, Ellen Michaelis, Christine Noble (Terry), John Carter (Julie), Anita Davis and Rosemary Bruno (John Nowicki). 9 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews as well as an abundance of loving and close friends. Christine is preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, John Carter, second husband, Frank Bruno, 12 siblings and 2 sons-in-law, Jimmy Davis (JD) and Richard Michaelis. 

The family would like to extend their gratitude and thanks to Dr. Francesca Hilmi and her staff, the nurses at 4 SMC at Health Alliance Hospital and Hudson Valley Hospice.

Arrangements entrusted to Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, Inc., 326 Albany Avenue, Kingston, NY 12401, where family and friends may visit on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, from 3pm to 7pm. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, June 13, 2024, at 11am. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
