Cheryl A. Alger of Arlmont St., Kingston died Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at her home.
She was born in Kew Gardens, a daughter of Josephine Froelich Roeber and the late Herbert Roeber.
A Kingston High School graduate, Cheryl first worked at the former Siller Beef. She worked in the area banking industry for many years including Charter One and Albany Savings. Since 2004 she was a Senior Mortgage Officer at Rondout Savings Bank.
She married Sean Alger on May 30, 1993.
Cheryl was a member of the Mortgage Bankers Association, and previously served on the boards of the Girl Scouts and Ulster County S.P.C.A.
A member and Past President of the Kingston Lions Club, she chaired a successful Expo at the Hudson Valley Mall. She also served on the Kingston Lions Foundation Board.
Surviving are her husband of 15 years, Sean M. Alger; her mother Josephine Froelich Roeber of Kingston; three brothers Philip Roeber of Albany, Gary Roeber of Kingston and Paul Roeber of Lake Katrine; two sisters Vicky Gore of Sawkill and Michelle Roeber of Mokelumne Hill, California; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Reposing at the Simpson - Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave. on Sunday 7-9 and Monday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral procession will form on Tuesday at 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph's Church at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be in Montrepose Cemetery.
