Charles J. "Beau" Polacco of East Chester Street, Kingston died peacefully on Monday, August 30, 2010 at Ferncliff Nursing Home. He was 84 years old.
Charles was born on August 25, 1926 in Kingston Point, a son of the late James and Fortunata Naccarato Polacco Sr. In 1944, he was enlisted in the United States Army for World War II and stationed in Germany.
He married Genevieve R. Stalter in September 14, 1947.
He worked as a foreman for many years for Hutton Brickyard and Hudson Cement Plant. Mr. Polacco retired from the Ulster County Highway Department in 1989.
Mr. Polacco was a member of the St. Mary's Benovolent Society and was a past member of the Local 17, Laborers and the Local 825 Opertating Engineers. Mr. Polacco served as a committeeman for the city of Kingston Republican Party for many years. He was an avid fan of western themed movies and John Wayne.
His wife Genevieve R. Polacco died on November 17, 2009; his son, Clayton Polacco and Clayton's wife, Kathy, both died previously.
Surviving are one daughter Barbara Tremper and her husband John of the Town of Ulster, two sons Charles Polacco Jr. and his wife Linda of Kingston, James Polacco and his wife Mary of Kingston, three brothers Anthony Polacco of Feeding Hills, MA, John F. Polacco of Kingston and James Polacco Jr. of Kingston, two sisters Caroline Ferraro of Kingston and Joan-Marie Komosa of Brewster, MA., eight loving grandchildren, Jason Tremper, Julie Jones, C.J. Polacco III, Tanya Williams, Ryan, Krista, Maryelizabeth and Katelynn Polacco, 13 great-grandchildren Imani & Camryn Tremper, Destiny & Cera Johnson, Cloe & Makayla Jones, Jordan, Chad & Cassandra Polacco, Zachary, Brandon & Kaylee Williams, and Rylee Polacco, many nieces and nephews.
Reposing at the Simpson - Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Service will be conducted by Fr. Frank Damis on Thursday at 8:00 p.m.
Cremation will be in Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery. Inurnment will be in Trinity Cemetery at a later date.
