Caryl Fyllingen

October 21, 1946 — February 9, 2024

Lake Katrine - Caryl Fyllingen, 78, of Penstock Lane, passed away 9 Feb 2024 at Ten Broeck Commons in Lake Katrine.

She was born 21 Oct 1946 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Magnus and Vivian Fyllingen. She was also step daughter to Marie Lund Fyllingen who was like a second mother to her.

Ms. Fyllingen had been a customer service call center manager at sas airlines in Newark, NJ for many years. During this time she not only received several prestigious awards but was able to help support and assist hundreds if not thousands of travelers. She made numerous friends while working there, some of which she considered to be like family. Previous to sas airlines she worked at the IBM facility in Kingston, NY.

Ms. Fyllingen had a few hobbies and activities she enjoyed. Being an active member of the Sons of Norway Lodge 432, one of her favorite outdoor activities was the events held at the private Elvidal retreat. She also greatly enjoyed photography, particularly peaceful wooded nature settings as well as along the Hudson River which she frequented often.

She is survived by her brother-in-law David Brown of Rhinebeck, NY and nephew Douglas Brown of Lake Katrine, NY. Her father was the only one out of 12 siblings to immigrate to the United States. Caryl is also survived by a large extended family throughout Norway. She greatly enjoyed visiting there and always had an open door policy for all visiting relatives to stay with her.

A private service will be held by family members and close friends to celebrate her life and share stories of a person who was such a wonderful sister, friend, daughter and aunt.
