Carolyn Moon Leung of Route 209, Stone Ridge, NY died Thursday, July 23, 2009 at Benedictine Hospital. She was 58.
A celebration of the life of Carolyn Moon Leung will be held on Sunday, July 26, 2009 at 1 PM at the High Falls Cafe, 1303 Rt 213, High Falls NY.
Carolyn was born in New York City on November 24, 1950, daughter of the late Sher Woon and Mabel Lee Leung. Raised in Chinatown, Carolyn graduated Pratt Institute with a Bachelors in Fine Arts. There she discovered a love of graphics and an affinity for hand building in clay.
Carolyn, a ceramist, founded The Bittersweet Pottery Company in 1976, which she co-owned and operated with her husband, in New York City and then Stone Ridge, to which the family moved in 1988. She was a member of the American Craft Council and exhibited her work in their venues throughout her career.
Surviving are her husband Lee Rubenstein; their son Joshua Leung Rubenstein of Alexandria, VA; a brother, Allan Fee Wai Leung, PhD of Berkley, CA; and many cousins, aunts and uncles.
Cremation was in Poughekeepsie Rural Cemetery.
