Carolyn M. Waligurski

August 25, 1925 — August 27, 2008

At rest August 27, 2008 Carolyn Morehouse Waligurski, wife of the late Stephen S. Waligurski. Born August 25, 1925, daughter of Carrie Metzger Morehouse and Daniel V. Morehouse. She was 83 years old.
Originally from Lake Katrine, Carolyn graduated from Kingston High School in 1942, New Paltx Teacher's College in 1946 and Crane School of Music at Potsdam in 1948. She taught music at Croton Harmon in Croton on Hudson where she met her husband Stephen S. Waligurski. They were married on June 27, 1953 in the Fair St. Reformed Church, Kingston.
She and her husband moved to Hurley in 1957 where they immersed themselves in the history of the area, restoring an 18th century manor house in authentic detail. Carolyn wrote and directed the Hurley Folk Cantata for the Year in History in 1959, which has seen several revivals.
She was co-founder of Hurley Patentee Lighting and taught at Hurley Elementary school for many years retiring in 1984. A member of the Hurley Dutch Reformed church, she sang in the choir. She enjoyed music, local history and her family.
She is survived by sons Wayne and Stephen Waligurski, daughters Eleanor and Carolyn Waligurski, sister Marjorie Kingsley and brothers William and Herbert Morehouse. She is predeceased by husband Stephen S. Waligurski, daughter Dale Marie Waligurski, sister Eleanor Morehouse, and brothers Robert and Daniel Morehouse.
