Caroline M Roeber 72, of Lake Katrine passed away peacefully on January 1, 2016 after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. Caroline will be often remembered for her caring smile and infectious laugh. She lived her life helping others and always put others first before herself. Her children and grandchildren were her greatest joy and sense of pride. She spent 25 plus years as a dedicated employee with Grand Union and later Hannaford Supermarkets. She derived a sense of purpose helping her customers and providing a warm smile, a chuckle, or an anecdotal story that made people's lives brighter. She was well liked and sorely missed upon her retirement. She also enjoying working many summer weekends in the catering business bringing smiles and laughter everywhere she went. Caroline was born in Kingston to the late Henry P Miller Jr and Mary Buckman Miller. She was predeceased by a sister, Mary Lou Benedict. Caroline is survived by a brother Henry C Miller and his wife Delphine Miller of Berwyn, PA, With her ex-husband Philip Roeber, Sr, of Albany, they had three children, a son Philip Roeber Jr and his wife Rachel Roeber of Accord, a daughter Kimberly Roeber of Stone Ridge, a son Scott Roeber and his wife Dawn Roeber of Saugerties, seven grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Caroline will be reposing at the Simpson-Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave, on Tuesday, January 5, 2015 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 10:00 AM, with Rev. Charles Stickley officiating. Interment will follow in Montrepose Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in Caroline's honor to the Alzheimer's Association, 2 Jefferson Plaza, Suite 103, Poughkeepsie, NY 12603-4027
