Carol Silverman, 70, of Shokan, died Wednesday, January 27, 2021, at HealthAlliance Hospital Broadway Campus.
Born in New York City, she was a daughter of the late Hyman Konigsberg & Anna Dorf Konigsberg. Carol Silverman was a Legal Secretary by trade. After moving upstate from New Jersey with her husband Steve and their children, she put her talents to work for 20 years in the Onteora School system at Bennett Elementary School as an administrative secretary. She was an advocate of the kids, addressing whatever their needs were. Whether it was helping a disabled child or helping kids in the classroom with math. If you needed something, you could go see Mrs. Silverman in the office and she would take care of you. She produced the Bennett School calendar. She played clarinet in the Bennett School Jazz Band.
She will be remembered as a highly intelligent, capable, generous, and warm-hearted person who was always there when you needed her.During her retirement, Carol enjoyed simple pleasures like spending time with her friends and grandchildren, and gardening.
Carol is survived by her husband, Stephen Silverman of Shokan, two sons, Joel Silverman of Shokan and Larry Silverman and his wife Kirsten of Malden, MA, a daughter, Anna Wettan and her husband Matt of Lindenhurst, NY, a brother, Max Konigsberg and his wife, Audrey of Norwood, NJ, a sister, Gwen Thibault and her husband Al of Milford, CT. Four grandchildren, Victoria, Sam, Ben and Zachary also survive.
A Graveside Service will be held on Sunday, January 31, 2021 at Beth David Cemetery in Elmont, NY at 10:00 AM.
