Carol Hornig

d. March 12, 2014

Carol G. Hornig, 65, of West Hurley, died Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at her home surrounded by her family. Born in Yonkers, she was a daughter of the late Milton & Corraine Sterzer Garber. Carol Hornig will live in the hearts of all that have had the blessing to be in her life. Carol was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, friend and healer. Carol was a very bright, insightful and caring healer, nutritionist and therapist. The person to person connection was what came first for Carol, and it was this loving of people that she showed that made her the special person that so many connected with, no matter what form the relationship was. Carol was an amazing friend, who could be there to listen, to offer insight and caring and who was able to equally be real with her friends, sharing honestly all of who she was. Carol and her husband, Lester, had a very deep, loving and full relationship. Carol held love in her heart as a mother for her children and always wanted the best for them and to be able to share that love with them. Her joy at being a grandmother made Carol beam and shine. This was her pride and joy and her great pleasure that she could share this love she felt for her grandchildren. There is not a person that Carol has connected with that is not feeling the loss of having her in their lives and although that person to person connection leaves an empty space, it is filled with memories, warmth and love that death cannot remove and will remain in their hearts forever. Carol is survived by her husband of 35 years, Lester M. Hornig of West Hurley, whom she married on July 9, 1978, a son, Johnathan Hornig of Pawling, NY, a daughter, Rebecca Blide and her husband David of Hawthorne, NY, a sister, Arlene Johnson of Novi, MI, a brother, Stuart Garber and his wife Helen of Santa Monica, CA. Three grandchildren, Jake, AJ, Gavin and two nieces also survive. A Funeral Service will be conducted on Friday, March 14, 2014 at the Woodstock Jewish Congregation at 3:30 PM with Rabbi Jonathan Kligler officiating. Interment will follow in Montrepose Cemetery.
