Carol A. Spalt, 74, of Port Ewen passed unexpectedly Friday evening, June 21, 2013 at Health Alliance Hospital, Broadway Campus, Kingston, after a short illness. She was born in Kingston on December 29, 1938, the daughter of the late Frank and Margaret Maxim Hornbeck
Carol was a graduate of Kingston High School, Class of 1957. She had been the food service manager at Ulster BOCES Alternative Learning Center in Port Ewen for over 20 year. After retiring, she worked for Bank of America tax processing center in the Town of Ulster
Carol was a faithful and active member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, she taught Sunday School, for many years was a Girl Scout Troop Leader, active in the Town of Esopus Senior Citizens, she loved to read and crochet, enjoyed camping and traveling, especially in Vermont.
Carol is survived by beloved family, her husband, Dale, they wed on June 7, 1959, daughters Donna K. Reuss and her husband Jerry, their children Dauna, Jerry Jr. and Joshua, Cathy A. Woolsey and her husband Christopher and their children Noelle and Christopher, a great granddaughter Ariel Reuss - Panaro, a brother William B. Hornbeck and his wife JoAnn and a half sister Pat Startup, her uncle Donald Hornbeck and his wife Audrey, two nieces and two nephews.
Entrusted to the care of Eric Keyser, Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, 216 Broadway, Port Ewen.
The family will receive their friends on Tuesday from 3 - 7 pm. The service will be held the Redeemer Lutheran Church, 104 Wurts Street, Kingston, on Wednesday at 12 noon.
