Carl C. Janasiewicz

Carl C. Janasiewicz, formerly of Jarold Street, Kingston, died Friday, December 7, 2007 at Kingston Hospital. He was 92. A native and lifelong Kingston resident, he was born February 23, 1915, a son of the late Charles and Martha Madajewski Janasiewicz. Mr. Janasiewicz married Rose M. DeCicco on November 14, 1943. He served in the US Army during WW II. Upon returning from service he began a 30-year law enforcement career. In December 16, 1946 he was appointed Patrolman for the Kingston Police Department. Mr. Janasiewicz was promoted to Sergeant in February 17, 1955. A member of the Kingston PBA, he retired March 12, 1975. A lifelong parishioner of the Immaculate Conception Church, he then worked for 15 years as custodian and supervising Mt. Calvary Cemetery. He belonged to the White Eagle Benevolent Society and was a 50-year member of the Kingston Post 150 American Legion. Surviving in addition to his wife of 64 years, Rose DeCicco Janasiewicz, three sons Carl Janasiewicz and his wife Kathie of St. Remy; Francis John Janasiewicz and his wife Cheryl of Raleigh, NC and Joseph Janasiewicz and his wife Joyce of Hurley; nine grandchildren Tiffany, Michael, Stephanie, Kristie, Kevin, Karyn, Joseph Jr., John, and Nicole Janasiewicz; four great grandchildren Hogan, Ford, Brendon and Sean Janasiewicz; many nieces and nephews. One sister, Rose Dudek, and five brothers Anthony, Edward, Walter, Leo and John Janasiewicz all died previously. Reposing at Simpson - Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave. on Monday 2-4 and 7-9. The Kingston PBA will pay their respects on Monday evening at 7:15 PM. The White Eagle Benevolent Society will pay respects at 7:30 PM. The Kingston Post 150, American Legion will conduct a ritual at 7:45 PM. The funeral will be Tuesday at 9:15 AM from the funeral home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church at 10:00 AM. Interment, with military honors by Joyce - Schirick Post 1386, VFW, will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
