Blanche M. Ennis of Roosevelt Ave. died Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at home. She was 94. She was born January 28, 1914 in Dubuque, Iowa, a daughter of the late Edward J. and Bertha Rudolph Carney.
She graduated from Clarke College in Iowa and for several years taught algebra. For over 65 years, she served the Ulster County Council of Girl Scouts both as a volunteer and professionally as president. She was a parishioner of St. Joseph's Church and previously served as a member and officer of the parish council. She also served on the Community Chest and volunteered for literacy programs and the People's Place.
On March 19, 1944, she married David C. Ennis. Mr. Ennis died July 19, 1991.
Surviving are her daughters, Susan Di Angelo and her husband Michael of Holly Springs, NC; Elizabeth "Betsey" Schedler and her husband Michael of Quechee, VT; her son David C. "Chip" Ennis and his wife Liz of Norwell, MA; her son-in-law David Dolan of Holly Springs, NC; her sister-in-law of Doris Ennis and grandchidren Jessica Herrmann, David Dolan, Becky, Emily and Kelly Ennis, Danielle Castillo, Andrew, Mark and Nicholas Schedler and great-grandchildren Anthony Castillo, Ryan Ennis and James and Maggie Herrmann. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
Her daughter Jeanne Dolan died previously.
Reposing at the Simpson-Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave., Kingston on Friday from 7 9 PM. The funeral procession will form on Saturday at 9:15 AM from the funeral home. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM in S. Joseph's Church. Interment will follow in Wiltwyck Cemetery.
