Blaise J. Schweitzer

Blaise J. Schweitzer of Smith Ave., Kingston died Friday, June 5, 2009 at Benedictine Hosptial. He was 44. He was born Aug. 18, 1964, in Waterloo, Iowa., and was raised in St. Paul, Minn., the son of Phillip and Audrey Hansen Schweitzer. He graduated from Cretin-Derham Hall High School and from the University of Minnesota with a degree in journalism. A Freeman reporter and longtime city resident who covered celebrities, the environment, food, religion and who chronicled his life with cancer. Beside his parents, he is survived by his wife, Rebecca, whom he married on Oct. 6, 2004, at the Churchtown Firehouse in Churchtown; a sister, Consuela; two brothers, Christian and Philip; a niece, Julia; and two nephews, P.J. and Cole. Shiva will be observed at the residence on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday from 2:00 - 7:00 p.m. Cremation will be in Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
