Beverly Ann Chick, 64, of Saugerties, NY, passed peacefully Sunday, June 19, 2011 at the Albany Medical Center, Albany, NY. She was born October 16, 1946 in Kingston, NY to the late Julius Chick Jr. and Elizabeth (Tiano) Chick.
She was married to her loving husband of 22 years and soulmate LTC Floyd Burgher Jr., PA-C, who returned from deployment to Afghanistan to be with her.
Beverly devoted her life to the Benedictine Hospital where she graduated from the Benedictine Hospital School of Nursing in 1967 and then went on to receive her Bachelors Degree and Masters Degree in Nursing at SUNY New Paltz. She was a nurse at the Benedictine Emergency Department and Mental Health Unit for many years. She worked most recently as the Director, Mental Health Services.
She was an avid New York Yankee fan and enjoyed family vacations. Her family was extremely important to her. She truly loved Yellowstone National Park and was a lover of animals, especially the wolves. She had just completed her sixth year with the Board of Directors, Ulster County Mental Health Association. She was a member of Sigma Theta Tau International, Honor Society of Nursing.
In addition to her husband she is survived by her siblings, Marilyn Markle and her husband Joseph of Kingston, NY, Julia Murphy and her husband Roger of Kingston, NY and Julius Chick III and his wife Lori of Jacksonville, FL, father and mother in law, Floyd Burgher Sr. and his wife Betty of Saugerties, NY and sister in law, Roxanne Churchill and her husband Victor of Saugerties, NY. She was the adored aunt of Jodi and J.A., John and Barbara, Steven and Robin, Julius IV, Stephanie, Nicholas, Eliza, Jessie, Jaime and great aunt of Jesse, Jenna, Bridget, Ryan, Craig, Lauren, Jaiden and Serenity. Godmother to John, Eliza and Jesse.
Entrusted to the care of the Keyser Funeral Service, Inc., 326 Albany Avenue, Kingston, NY 12401 where friends may call on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-9pm and also on Friday from 9-10 am. Nurses are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 8 pm for a Nightingale service.
The procession will form at the funeral home on Friday at 10am and then proceed to St. Mary of the Snow, 36 Cedar St, Saugerties, NY 12477, where at 11am a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated.
