Bernice L. Walthour

Bernice L. Walthour, 81, of Kingston, entered into eternal rest on Monday, July 9, 2012 at Ten Broeck Commons in Lake Katrine. She was born December 10, 1930 in Charlotte, VA to the late James and Ellen Henry.

She was married to Johnny Wade Walthour who passed away on August 1, 1987.

Bernice worked as an assembler specialist for IBM in both Kingston and Poughkeepsie until her retirement in 1992. Prior to that she worked as a nurse's aide at Kingston Hospital and she also worked at Rotron in Woodstock and Hercules Powder Co. in Port Ewen and then for Schats Federal Bearing in Poughkeepsie. After her retirement she worked as a home care provider for Taconic DDSO. She loved traveling, baking and all pets.

She is survived by her daughters, Mary Ellen Goins and her husband Kenneth of Katonah, NY, Hazel James and her husband Clement of Kingston, a sister, Marie Davis of Philadelphia, a brother-in-law, Irving Whitbeck of Kingston, a sister-in-law Edith Goodridge of Kingston, grandchildren, Lisa Morris, Diedra Howell, Cedric Davoren, Austin Davoren, Clement James, Corey James, as well as 7 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews and a godson, Robert "Bobby" Anderson.

In addition to her husband she is predeceased by her son, Leon A. Williams and her siblings, Wilis Mae Chaffin, Ruth Chaffin, Henrietta Whitbeck, James Henry Chaffin, Jr., and Levi Chaffin.

Entrusted to the care of Paul Geary of Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, 326 Albany Ave., Kingston. Friends may call at New Central Baptist Church, 229 East Strand, Kingston on Sunday from 7 to 9pm and on Monday from 10 to 11am with the Home Going service at 11am.

Burial will follow in Montrepose Cemetery, Kingston.
