Benjamin Gulnick, Jr, 88, of the Town of Ulster, died Monday, June 16, 2014 at HealthAlliance Hospital Broadway Campus.
Born in Kingston, he was a son of the late Benjamin & Gertrude Yerry Gulnick. Benjamin was a veteran of the US Army having served during WWII. He was a glazier with Kingston Glass for 20 years and worked in the maintenance department of the Ulster County Infirmary for 15 years. In the 1960's, Ben was president of the Town of Ulster Little League. He was a life member of the Ulster Hose #5, past president of the Kingston Veterans Association, past commander of the Catholic War Veterans, past commander of the VFW Post 1386 and the past commander of the Kingston American Legion Post #150. In his spare time, Ben enjoyed camping in Lake George in his RV.
Ben is survived by his three children, Debbie Gulnick of Kingston, Diane Gulnick of Kingston and Benjamin J. Gulnick of Kingston. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to his parents, Ben was predeceased by his wife of 48 years, Rosemarie Resso Gulnick, whom he married on September 28, 1952 and who passed in 2001, a twin brother, Burton Gulnick, Sr, a brother, George Gulnick, a brother, Robert C. Gulnick, a sister, Betty Leonardo a sister, Betsy Gulnick.
Ben will be reposing at the Simpson-Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave on Thursday, June 19, 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The Joyce-Schirick VFW Post 1386 will conduct their service at 7:30 PM. The funeral procession will form on Friday from the funeral home at 9:00 AM.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph Church at 10:00 AM.
Interment will follow in Wiltwyck Cemetery.
