Becky Svirsky of Ulster Ave., Ulster Park died Sunday, April 11, 2010 at Benedictine Hospital. She was 73.
She was born in Manhattan, a daughter of the late Richard and Edna Wheeler Bailey. A Kingston High School graduate, for many years she lived in Rosendale.
A beautician and a hair stylist , Becky worked in this area for many years. She worked as a teacher's assistant at Ulster BOCES for several years.
On January 10, 1970 she married George Svirsky.
Becky was a mentor for the Ulster Literacy Association and a member and volunteer for the Ulster Performing Arts Center. She belonged to the Friends of Historic Kingston and the Benedictine Hospital Auxiliary. She was a member of Temple Emanuel and it's Sisterhood. Becky was a NY Giants "tail-gating artist" and a member of The Red Hat Society.
Two sisters Cecilia Wallace and Joan Maher and two brothers Donald Wallace and Robert Bailey all died previously.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, George, are two daughters Jacqueline A. Neubauer and her partner Renee Okerman of Portland, Oregon, Kimberly M. Meono and her husband Carlos of Franklin Park, NJ; one brother Richard Bailey of Edison, NJ; three granddaugthers Lauren M. Neubauer, Samantha A. Meono and Marissa N. Meono; two nieces Lisa Walker and Cynde Bailey. Several other nieces and nephews also survive.
There will be a gathering of family and friends on Wednesday at the Simpson - Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave. from 3:00 - 8:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be conducted by Rabbi Yael Romer at Temple Emanuel, 243 Albany Ave., Kingston on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Montrepose Cemetery.
