Beatrice F. Dixon of Harwich Street, Kingston died Monday, January 10, 2005 at Benedictine Hospital. She was 83.
She was born in the Bronx on April 7, 1921, a daughter of the late John Patrick and Anna Lentz McCormack. She married John W. Dixon on July 27, 1941.
Formerly of the South Bronx, Beatrice worked in a munitions plant during WW II. She later worked at a dry cleaners in the Bronx.
In 1964 Beatrice moved to this area. She worked at the former Fashion Town, Kingston and the Albany Avenue Sanitarium. A parishioner of St. Catherine Laboure Church, Beatrice belonged to The Blue Army of Our Lady of Fatima.
One sister Anna Mezzacappa and three brothers James, George and Patrick McCormack all died previously.
Surviving are her husband of 63 years, John W. Dixon; three daughters Barbara A. Greene and Patricia A. Dixon-Horvers and her husband Kenneth, both of Kingston, and Frances J. Hommel and her husband Frederick of Sawkill; three sons Ronald J. and his wife Aglae and James J. Dixon and his wife Lisa, both of Kingston and John V. Dixon and his wife Sharon of Highland; sixteen grandchildren Mark Dixon, Rhonda Dixon-Ziros, Natalie Polacco, Russell Reynolds, Randi Reynolds, Eric Greene, Kelli Greene, Kaycie Hommel-Kimberlin, Frederick Hommel, Dunaven Hommel, Kristin Horvers, Tiffany Schoval, Shawn Dixon, James Dixon, John Dixon and Ryan Dixon. Sixteen great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews also survive.
Reposing at Simpson - Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave. on Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 and Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral will be Friday at 9:30 AM from the funeral home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Catherine Laboure Church at 10:30 AM. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
