Barbara W. Tobey, 92, of Crystal Lake, IL died Friday, July 11, 2008 at The Gardens at The Fountains of Crystal Lake. She was born on September 20, 1915 in Hackensack, NJ to Charles Julian and Mildred (Morse) Wood Jr. On June 20, 1939 she married J. Phil Tobey in Hackensack, NJ.
She had 40 years of service to the Daughters of the American Revolution, including serving as Regent of the Wiltwyck Chapter of the DAR in Kingston, New York. She was also a genealogist for the David Ackerman Society. She was a great supporter and member of the Ulster County Historical Society and the Hugenot Society and a member of the Dutch Reformed Church.
Survivors include her two daughters, Carolyn "Tobi" Hicks of Sun City, AZ and Susan (Gary) Taylor of Crystal Lake; five grandchildren, Donna Jean Harms Peterson, Lance (Judy) Klein, Heather (Kurt) Ireland, Debbie (Rigo) Fuzetto and Jacob (Amy) Taylor; nine great-grandchildren; and a brother, Robert Morse (Frances) Wood of St. Michaels, MD. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Marion Morse Wood. Services will be held in Kingston on Saturday, July 19 at 2pm at Keyser Funeral Services, 326 Albany Ave, Kingston, NY.
