Barbara Ruth Barouch was born on February 24, 1941, in the Bronx, NY. She had a wonderful grandmother Anna Smolin and mother Mildred Wildman who raised her and her brother Seymore Wildman whom she loved dearly and looked up to. She had a special loving bond with her sisters-in-law Effie Wildman, Betty Barouch, Sylvia Goldin, and Ruth Barouch. She was a strong and independent woman and a dedicated mother to Andrea Barouch-Hebb, Barry Barouch, and Randi Barouch, as well as mother-in-law to Dave Hebb and Fergie Richardson; grandmother to Orion Barouch Franklin, Chums Barouch-Hebb, Irena Barouch Richardson and Xylia Barouch-Hebb; grandmother-in-law to Jess Joray; and soon-to-be great-grandmother to Aria Shea. She also had great love for her nieces and nephews Carrie Wildman and her wife Coleen Dustin; Eric Wildman and his wife Becky Wildman; Amy Wildman and her husband Eric; Joan Barouch and her partner Ken Horn; Rita Barouch; Chuck Barouch; Bennett Barouch; Shelley Barouch; Simon Barouch and his wife Joanna; and all of her wonderful great nieces and nephews Skylar, Ariel, Serena, Jackie, Matt, Jake, Alana, Cara, Lore, Danielle, Evelyn and Jonathon.
Among her many accomplishments in life, she was an avid student who later in life earned honors as a phi beta kapa and magna cum laude. She had a vast range of careers throughout her life starting out working as a bookkeeper and hand model. After graduate school she became a teacher of art to students in middle and high school and a religious studies teacher for children in primary school. Later in life she became a realtor. She spent her summers working as a beach club camp director. She was not only hardworking, but she also had other passions like swing dancing and painting.
She will be sorely missed by so many who enjoyed her wonderful sense of humor and ability to tell stories. She was the mom and grandma that could always be found hanging out with the kids. She died at the Meadows at Brookmeade where she was cared for by a most loving and compassionate staff of caregivers whom her family are eternally grateful to.
Her favorite expression was…. A broken clock is right twice a day!!
It is what it is.
