Barbara Nan Barnes, 71, of Golden Hill Drive and formerly of Madison Ave., Kingston lost her twelve year battle with Alzheimer's on Thursday, October 14, 2010 at Kingston Hospital. Thus Earth loses and Heaven gains one more attraction.
Barbara, a lifelong member of St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, was born in Kingston, the youngest daughter of the late George DeWitt and Mary Bechtold Bilyou. She attended Kingston elementary schools and graduated from Burnham High School in Sylvania, Ohio, class of 1957.
She retired from the J.C. Penney Co. in January 1998, after 15 years of service. Prior employers included The Arthur Murray Dance Studio, IBM Corporation and Manpower, Inc. Her hobbies included dancing, bowling, skiing and softball.
Surviving are her husband of 50 years, Donald L. Barnes, whom she married on May 28, 1960; her daughter, Deborah L. Seche of Kingston, her son Jeffrey D. Barnes and his wife Christine J. Barnes of West Hurley, two grandchildren, Kevin J. Seche and Margaux A. Seche of Kingston; three sisters, Mildred M. Burns of Kingston, Jean M. Schatzel of Kingston and Jacqueline A. Linnartz of Boca Raton, Florida; many nieces and nephews.
Her brother George W. "Knobby" Bilyou and one sister, Dorothy C. Denman both died previously.
In accordance with Barbara's wishes, there will be no wake, visitation or calling hours. Services and burial will be private at St. Peter's Cemetery, Kingston at the convenience of the family. It is respectfully requested that all expressions of sympathy, in any form (floral, spiritual or charitable memorial contributios) be omitted.
