Arlene Neporent formerly of Twin Ponds Drive, Kingston, NY died February 23, 2017 in White Plains, NY. She was 81.
She was born in Brooklyn, NY, the daughter of the late Alex and Sadie Berger Semilof.
Arlene moved to Kingston from Brooklyn in 1947. She graduated from Kingston High School, class of 1952 and Syracuse University, class of 1956. In 1956, she married her husband, Dr. Lewis Neporent. Arlene was a member of Temple Emanuel. She owned and operated her own travel agency, Clermont Travel for many years. Arlene proudly served as the first woman president of the Kingston Rotary Club.
Arlene is survived by two sons, Mark Neporent and his wife Lisa of Armonk NY, and Richard Neporent of Fort Lee, NJ; two daughters, Elizabeth Neporent and her husband Jay Shafran of New York City and Jill Heske and her husband Theodore of Suwanee, GA; two brothers, Harvey Semilof and Duke Semilof, both of Florida; and six grandchildren, Andrew, Rachel, Jeremy, and Matthew Neporent, Julian Heske, and Skylar Shafran. She is also survived by several nieces and a nephew and her good friends Ken and Georgie Pangburn. In addition to her parents Arlene was predeceased by her husband Dr. Lewis Neporent, who passed September 29, 2009.
There will be a graveside service in Montrepose Cemetery on Sunday, at 10:00 am. Cantor Bob Cohen will officiate.
Shiva will be held at the home of her son Mark, 11 Terrace Circle, Armonk, NY on Sunday between 3pm and 5pm, and Monday between 5pm and 8pm. Donations in memory of Arlene can be sent to The Rotary Club of Kingston, P.O. Box 3581, Kingston, NY 12402
