Arlene Kronick

February 12, 1931 — December 26, 2023

Kronick, Arlene Eleanor (Nadel), 92, of Palm Harbor, Fl. died peacefully at Oak Park Nursing Home on December 26, 2023. Born in Poughkeepsie, NY to Julius and Gertrude (Steinman) Nadel.  Arlene was a graduate of Cornell University, where she was a member of Sigma Delta Tau Sorority.  Arlene worked as a teacher in the Wappingers Falls school system. She married Harvey Kronick in 1953 and celebrated 64 years together.  Harvey’s job at IBM brought them from Poughkeepsie to Kingston in 1960, where they raised their family and where they became active in the community. Arlene gave up her teaching career, becoming a full-time homemaker, dedicated to raising her children.  She was a loving mother and involved in her children’s lives.  She was actively involved in both the Jewish and civic community.  Arlene was President of the B’nai B’rith Women, Zephaniah Chapter and involved in many fund raising and community service projects. Arlene worked with the Ulster County Literacy Program tutoring adults in English.  She worked with many Russian refugee families, helping them acclimate to living in New York.  Arlene also volunteered with the Ulster County Board of Elections, Hurley Heritage Society, Temple Emanuel and Ahavath Israel.  Arlene believed in the importance of community service and giving back to others.

Arlene enjoyed antiquing, buying and selling collectibles.  As part of her hobbying, she was always hunting for some great treasure. For many years, Arlene and Harvey enjoyed staying in Boca Raton, Florida as snowbirds each winter.

Arlene was preceded in death by her husband Harvey and her sister Selma Streicher in 2018.  She is survived by her children: Neil and his wife, Susan, of Vero Beach, Fl, Steven and his wife, Carrie, of Schenectady, NY and Leslie Baccari and her husband David, of Palm Harbor, Fl, and her grandchildren: Zachary Kronick, Julia Kronick, Adam Kronick, Christopher (Erin) Baccari and Michael Baccari.
