Antonio Santos, 63, of Kingston, died Friday, September 29, 2017 at his residence.
One of 7 children, he was born in New York City, a son of Santiago and Angelina Rodriguez Santos.
After moving from Wassaic Developmental Center, Tony lived at the ARC of Ulster from 1989 until 2017.
Tony cherished his family and shared a very special relationship with each of them. He would usually visit them twice a year for two weeks at a time.
A true gentleman and very religious, Tony was a cheerful and sensitive individual with a big heart and big smile. He liked to make people smile and was well liked as a result. Tony had a great sense of humor and was a joy to be around.
He loved bowling and many spectator sports. Tony also loved music - especially Elvis, dancing, karaoke, and playing his harmonica for everyone. Tony took great pride in his life achievements, supported by ARC staff along the way. He held positions at various ARC enclave jobs in the community over the years, but preferred working at Pilot Industries in Kingston and Catskill. A few years ago, Tony started his own successful shoe shining business.
He is survived by his sister, Edelmira DeJesus of the Bronx, his niece, Angelina Ortez, as well as his many friends and his ARC of Ulster family.
Antonio will be reposing at the Simpson-Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave on Tuesday, September 26, 2017 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
A Funeral Service will be conducted at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with Fr. Robert Bubel from St. Marys Church, officiating.
Interment will follow in St. Raymonds Cemetery in the Bronx.
