Anthony J. 'Trixie' Serra, of Third Avenue, Kingston, died Wednesday morning, January 12, 2005 at Vassar Hospital. He was 84.
Trixie was born and raised in Glasco on December 18, 1920, a son of the late Anthony and Julia Merenda Serra. He served in the US Army during WW II in the European Theater of Operations. He belonged to the Glasco Volunteer Fire Department.
On August 3, 1941 he married Jennie Martino and moved to Kingston. For 34 years Trixie worked at I.B.M. in both Kingston and Poughkeepsie.
A parishioner and Usher at St. Mary's Church, Kingston, Trixie belonged to the V.F.W. Joyce - Schirick Post 1386.
Two brothers John and Albert 'Effer' Serra and one grandson Zachary Petramale all died previously.
Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Jennie Martino Serra; one son Anthony Serra Jr. an his wife Linda of Brigantine, NJ; two daughters Linda and Julie Serra, both of Kingston; one sister Mary Sinnott of Glasco; four grandchildren Kathy Serra, Corey Buboltz, Rachael and Jade Petramale; many nieces and nephews.
Reposing at Simpson - Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Avenue on Saturday 7-9 and Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The V.F.W. Joyce-Schirick Post 1386 will conduct a ritual at the funeral home on Sunday at 7:30 PM.
The funeral will be Monday at 9:00 AM from the funeral home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary's Church at 10:00 AM. Interment, with military honors by Joyce - Schirick Post 1386, will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
