Anthony Louis Crespino

Anthony Louis Crespino, 90, of Kingston, passed away at home Tuesday, February 19, 2013. He was born May 2, 1922 in East Kingston, to the late John and Laura (Secreto) Crespino.


He was married to Shirley (Silkworth) Crespino, they wed on September 8, 1946.


Tony served in the US Army 38th Infantry Division during WWII in the Pacific Theater. He was awarded the Purple Heart. Tony served as a Kingston Alderman of the 9th Ward, Minority Leader, Majority Leader and UC Legislator.


He was a member of VFW #1386, American Legion #150, Kingston Veterans Association, Rondout Lodge F&AM No. 343 and B.P.O Elks #550. In 1990 the County Veterans Group selected Tony to be the recipient of their first annual Veteran of the Year award. He was Grand Marshall of the Memorial Day parade that same year.


In addition to his wife he is survived by his children; Darryl Crespino and his wife Jennifer, Deborah Mannello and her husband Joseph, Desiree Crespino-Rossi and her husband James, all of Kingston, Donyelle Sears and her husband Sean of Hyde Park, Damon Crespino and his wife Joy of Pawleys Island, SC, and a granddaughter, Shelby V. Crespino. Also surviving are a sister, Josephine Misasi, several nieces and nephews and his dear friends, John Naccarato, Roscoe Altomari and Mike Cacchillo.


He is predeceased by his siblings; Anna Francello, John R. Crespino, Charles Crespino, Rosemarie Dolan, Ralph Crespino and Donald Crespino.


Entrusted to the care of Luke Keyser of Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, Inc., 326 Albany Avenue, Kingston, where friends may call on Friday from 1 to 3 & 6 to 8pm. Between 6 & 7 pm services will be conducted by organizations that Tony was a member of.


The funeral service will be held Saturday at 10am at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Montrepose Cemetery.
