Anna Stein, 88, of Ellenville, formerly of Manhattan and Kerhonksen, died peacefully at the Ferncliff Nursing Home in Rhinebeck on Wednesday evening, March 3, 2010. She was born August 22, 1921 in Coatsville, PA to the late Elias Helko and Anna Stignicki.
She was the wife of the Hugo E. Stein, they married in December 1962, Mr. Stein died on December 19, 2005.
During WW II she served as a Squad Leader in the Air Warden Service, in New York City. She had been employed at Regal Electronics, the Brookside and Nevele Hotels and the Rondout Valley Central Schools. She enjoyed gardening, playing poker, bingo and watching the Food Network and trips to the Casinos. She was well know for her love of life, she was very outgoing and loved to make people laugh.
Anna is survived by her daughter Antoinette "Toni" Snyder, Kingston, NY, many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her son in law Arthur Snyder, her sisters Sonya Roache, Lillian DeMartino, and brothers Alex, Anthony and Stanley Staneski.
Entrusted to the care of the Keyser Funeral Service, Inc., 326 Albany Avenue, Kingston. Friends may call on Saturday from 12 - 3. The service will be held on Saturday at 3 pm.
The family suggests in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to American Cancer Society, 95 Schwenk Drive, Kingston, NY 12401.
