Ann L. Sussin, 92, of Vision Path, West Shokan died Sunday, February 18, 2007 at home.
She was born June 12, 1914 in Brooklyn a daughter of the late Samuel and Rebecca Bavarsky Shapiro.
Formerly of Jamaica, Queens, she moved to Kingston in 1951. She was a member of Congregation Ahavath Israel in Kingston.
From 1954 to 1969, she resided in Glenford. From 1971 to 2004 she resided in the Tempe, Scottsdale, Phoenix Arizona area then returning to West Shokan.
Growing up, Ann was active in various family businesses, including a gas station and auto parts store and shoe store. She later owned and operated Ann's Specialty Shop in Jamaica. While in Phoenix, AZ, she worked in retail women's clothing.
In 1936, she married Dr. Harry P. Sussin wrh died September 1, 1969. Two brothers, Saul and Nathan Shapiro died previously.
Surviving are three sons, Marshall J. Sussin and his wife, Louise of Stony Brook, NY; Larry J. Sussin and his wife, Carolyn of Scottsdale, AZ; Bruce D. Sussin and his wife, Denise of Anaheim Hills, CA and a daughter, Sandra Breitenberger and her husband, Hubert of West Shokan. One brother, Herman Shapiro of Southampton and six grandchildren, Pamela Sussin and her husband, Todd Prusin; Julie Weidman and her husband, Eric; Erick Sussin; Shawn Sussin and his wife Sharon; Darien Lewis and her husband Glen; Brett Sussin; two step-grandchildren, Larry Breitenberger and his wife Stace; Laura Gardner and her husband, Frank; two great-grandchildren, Paige Weidman and Evan Sussin and two step-great-grandchildren, Elyse Breitenberger and Brendan Gardner. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 12:00 pm by Rabbi Tamar Crystal at Simpson-Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave., Kingston. Interment will follow in Montrepose Cemetery, Kingston.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice.
