Ann De Bernardo Font of Lodge Road, Saugerties died Saturday, February 10, 2007 at Kingston Hospital. She was 101.
She was born in Bayonne, NJ on July 14, 1905, a daughter of the late Francis and Anna Kotlarz Brozek who both immigrated from Poland. A former resident of Bayonne, NJ and parishioner of Mount Carmel Church; while in Jersey City, NJ she belonged to St. Paul's Church. An area resident since the 1950's, Mrs. Font, while living in Kingston, was a parishioner of St. Joseph's Church. She attended both St. John the Evangelist and St. Mary of the Snow while living in Saugerties. She belong to the St. Mary of the Snow Altar Rosary Society.
Her long and active life included careers as a nurses' aide, seamstress and Democratic precinct captain. Ann was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
She was a beloved wife to Andrew De Bernardo and Joseph Font Sr., both deceased.
Two grandsons Joseph and Jeffrey Font, four brothers Stanley, John, Zigmund and Francis Brozek and four sisters Mary Sabol, Sophie Bilinski, Millie Westerman and Frances Pawlicki, all died previously.
Surviving are two sons Joseph Font and his wife Gaetana of Saugerties, Frank De Bernardo and his wife Marie of Merritt Island, FL; one daughter Lois Vinning-Schonger and her husband George of Port Ewen; four grandchildren Todd Vining, Melissa Sweeney and her husband Joseph, and Kristy Mitchell, all of Kingston; Jamie Burdett and her husband Steve of Rockledge, FL; nine great grandchildren Joshua, Christopher, Chad and Nicholas Vinning; Meredith and Cameron Sweeney, all of Kingston; Stephanie, Jonathan and Andrew Burdett all of Rockledge, FL; many nieces and nephews.
Reposing at the Simpson - Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave. on Tuesday 7-9 and Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral will be Thursday at 9:00 AM from the funeral home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church at 10:00 AM. Interment will be in St. Mary of the Snow Church, Barclay Heights.
