Angelo Anthony Fasano, 78, of Kingston, died peacefully, surrounded by his family on Saturday, April 23rd, at Health Alliance Hospital Broadway Campus.
He was born in Brooklyn, NY, to Pasquale and Concetta Fasano. He attended St. Joseph's School and graduated from Kingston High School in 1955. On April 12, 1959 he married his sweetheart, Joyce Bonavita. They had two children, a son, Dana (Sharon,) Orlando, FL., and a daughter, Rena (Phil) Estes, Newtown, CT. Ang and Joyce had four (4) grandchildren, Connor and Grace Fasano, and Griffin and Eliza Estes. His family was his pride and joy and the most important thing in his life.
Angelo started working at IBM in 1955 and joined the Naval Reserves in 1957. He attended Marist and Ulster County Community College and earned an Associate's Degree in Business in the evenings while his children were small. During the years, he was active in community affairs, a Commissioner on the City of Kingston Water Board, and a Board member of the Mid-Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union, serving most recently as First Vice-Chairman. Angelo retired from IBM in 1992 and became a licensed Real Estate Salesperson. He worked for many years for the Meals on Wheels program until they relocated from the former IBM building. One of the things he enjoyed so much was being co-chairman of the many high school class reunions that were held for the Class of 1955. Angelo was a parishioner and trustee in St. Mary's - St. Peters Church and enjoyed being active in the church community.
In addition to his wife, children and grandchildren, Angelo leaves behind his sister, Carmela (John) Bernhardt, a nephew, Chad (Gizelle) Smith, a niece, Stacy Paterno (fianc Scott) and a great-niece, Rena Paterno, as well as aunts, uncles, cousins and many dear friends. Angelo was dearly loved and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, Angelo was predeceased by his sister, Josie Fasano Smith.
Angelo will be reposing at the Simpson-Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave. on Thursday, April 28, 2016 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM.
The funeral procession will form from the funeral home on Friday at 9:00 AM.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM at St. Mary's Church.
Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.
