Andrus J. LaBarge of Tami Lea Ct., Lake Katrine, NY and subsequently of Highland, NY died Tuesday, November 13, 2018, at Sharon Hospital. He was 89, and will now join his wife, Jacqueline (Jackie) LaBarge. He was born in Iona, N.Y. on September 6, 1929, the eldest son of the late Roy and Melvina Rabideau LaBarge.
After graduating from Iona High School in Ellenburg Depot, NY, he married Jacqueline Linney on June 27, 1953. They moved to Dawn Dr., Latham, NY, where they lived for 23 years, and where he was heavily involved with the Knights of Columbus. In 1978, they moved to Lake Katrine, NY. While there, he was president of a successful income tax preparation business, AJ & JL Enterprises Inc. He had previously worked as a prison guard, a miner, a supervisor/manager in two different lightweight aggregate plants, served two terms as supervisor for the community of the Town of Ulster, a member and president of the Lions Club, and a parishioner of St. Catherine Laboure Church, where he served as Eucharistic Minister.
Beloved husband of 60 years to Jackie LaBarge, father of Rita LaBarge of Berkeley, CA, Andrea LaBarge of Kensington, MD, William LaBarge and his husband Jerry Ferrazza of Framingham, MA, James LaBarge and his wife, Rose of Bonita Springs, FL., and the late Stephen LaBarge, who died in 1958. He was brother of Gary LaBarge of Zephryhills, FL, Larry LaBarge of Orlando , FL, and Dale LaBarge of Lyon Mountain, NY, and the late Robert LaBarge of Cohoes, NY; grandfather of Morgan Linton, Julia Straws, Zachariah, Oktavia, and Matthew LaBarge; and great-grandfather of Heidi and Kaitlyn Straws. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
Andy will be reposing at the Simpson-Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave. on Sunday November 18, 2018 from 2 pm – 5pm. The funeral procession will form from the funeral home on Monday, November 19, 2018 at 9:00 am. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Catherine Laboure Church in Lake Katrine at 10:00am.
Interment will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands, NY.
