Amelia L. Izzo, 90, of Kingston, NY, quietly passed at Kingston Hospital on January 14, 2015, surrounded by her immediate family.
Amy was born in Lares, Puerto Rico in 1924, daughter of the late Antonio Arturo and Saturnina Arana. She relocated to Kingston in 1944. She worked for the Naval Dept during WWII, and was a financial advisor for Waddell & Reed, as well as a seller of Avon for many years, earning many awards. Amelia was a life-long lover of music, dancing, cooking, and travel. An excellent cook, none who entered her home were ever at a want for food. Above all, she cherished and was devoted to her family and friends, both local and in all corners of the globe. She delighted in conversation and correspondence with her family from all over the country, and a source of joy for her was a favorite cross-country RV trip where each state and family member was visited. She loved receiving and displaying photos of loved ones from near and far, brightening at news of additions to the family.
Amelia is survived by her son, I. Victor Izzo, Jr., daughter-in-law, Jeri A. Izzo, granddaughters Christy and KC Kirkpatrick, grandson I.Victor Izzo, III, his wife, Janine Izzo, great-grandchildren, Cameron Kirkpatrick and Alyse Izzo , as well as several nieces, nephews, and many grand-nieces and nephews.
She is pre-deceased by her husband, I. Victor Izzo, Sr., and siblings Arturo Arana, of San Juan, PR, Felipe Arana of San Juan, PR, Carlos Arana of Lares, PR, Saturnina (Nina) Lehe of Florida, Georgina Ramirez of San Juan, PR, Joseph Arana of NYC and San Juan, PR, and Isabel Rodriguez of Maryland. The family will receive friends at the Simpson-Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave on Sunday, January 18, 2015 from 2-6 PM.
A Funeral Service will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday at 11:00 AM.
Interment will follow in Wiltwyck Cemetery.
