Alva F. Bruce

Alva F. Bruce, 97, of Kingston, passed Friday morning, October 23, 2015 at the Hudson Valley Senior Residence. He was born December 6, 1917 in Kingston, the son of the late Alva G. and Minnie Bruce.

Al was a graduate of Kingston High School and served in the US Army, Company C 71st infantry, 44th division in the Pacific Theater of Operations during WW II, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant

Al had worked for the US Postal Service as a mail carrier for many years. He was a faithful member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, had served on the church council, and was a past member Kingston Lodge #10 F & AM and American Legion Post #150.

He is survived by his wife Helen Hauber Bruce, his sons William D. Bruce and his wife Holly of Gardiner and Robert D. Bruce and his wife Christine of Lake Katrine, and five grandchildren and one great granddaughter.

The family suggests memorial contributions to Evangelical Lutheran Church of The Redeemer Memorial Fund, 104 Wurts St. Kingston, NY 12401 or Hudson Valley senior Residence, 80 Washington Ave, Kingston, NY 12401
