Alton Riley of Hurley died Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at Kingston Hospital. He was 78.
He was born March 4, 1930 in Hope, RI the son of the late Clifford and Bertha Brandt Riley.
Mr. Riley served for four years in the Air Force. He was a member of Kingston American Legion Post 150.
He worked for IBM for 37 years, retiring as an advisory engineer in 1991. Mr. Riley was a parishioner of St. Joseph's Church, a member of the Hurley Lions Club, the Hurley Heritage Society, Hurley Senior Citizens and volunteered at the Maritime Museum. He was a former Boy Scout master of Troop 20.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years Anne Dittmar Riley, a son Michael Riley and his wife Laura of Glenelg, MD; and two daughters, Susan Riley Nagle and her husband Brian of Woodstock and Linda Strathman and her husband, John of Denver, CO. Five grandchildren, Eric Konrad, Evan and Maxwell Strathman, Emma and Collin Nagle also survive.
Friends will be received at the Simpson-Gaus Funeral Home 411 Albany Ave., Kingston on Sunday from 2 - 4 PM. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 10:30 AM at St. Joseph's Church, Kingston. Interment will follow in Hurley Cemetery.
