Allen P. Werbalowsky, 70, of Kingston, died Sunday, May 8, 2016 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. Born in Kingston, he was a son of the late Morton and Belle Ruth Black Werbalowsky. Mr. Werbalowsky graduated from Kingston High School, Class of 1964 and then earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from SUNY New Paltz in 1968. Allen continued his education at Union College, Albany Law School where he earned his Juris Doctor in 1971. While at Albany Law, he served on the Law Review. He was admitted to the New York State Bar in 1972. Mr. Werbalowsky practiced law in Syracuse, NY in the 1970s. He then returned to Kingston to open a law office where he practiced general and family law until his retirement in 2001. As a part of his family law practice, Mr. Werbalowsky was active in the Father's Rights organization. He was a member of the Lions Club, Masonic Rondout Lodge #343 F&AM and the KHS Class of 64 Reunion Committee. Allen is survived by his Fiance, Roberta Thompson Dunn of Kingston NY; his daughter: Andrea Beth Werbalowsky, Atlanta GA; two brothers, Louis Werbalowsky and his wife, Beverly Perlman of Woodstock, NY and Paul Werbalowsky of Kingston NY; and a sister, Iris Werbalowsky Barten and her husband, Ted Barten of Bolton MA. Allen is also survived by three nephews, Scott Werbalowsky of Wappingers Fall NY, Jason Werbalowsky of Mongaup Valley NY and Daniel Werbalowsky Mulrain, of Buffalo NY; his very dear Aunt, Adele Kreppel of Kingston and his Uncle Alvin (Al) Werbalowsky of Atlanta GA. Many cousins in the Werbalowsky, Kreppel and Kirschner families also mourn his loss. In addition to the law, Allen's interests included family, reading, writing, nature and humor. He was well known for his ability to tell a good joke on virtually any subject. In his retirement years, he lived happily with his dear Fiance Roberta and their pets. Together they enjoyed dining out, dancing and simply being together. A Funeral Service will be conducted at the Simpson-Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave, on Thursday, May 12, 2016 at 10:00 AM with Rabbi Yitzchok Hecht of Congregation Agudas Achim, officiating. Interment will follow in Montrepose Cemetery. The family requests that memorial donations be made to the Health Alliance of the Hudson Valley Diabetes Education Center, c/o Health Alliance Foundation, 396 Broadway, Kingston NY, 12401, or to the Ulster County SPCA, 20 Weidy Rd, Kingston, NY, 12401.
