Alice K. Hill, 103, of Hurley, NY, died Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at Kingston Hospital. She was born October 25, 1906 in Middleport, NY to the late Roy L. and Loriena Wheeler.
Mrs. Hill was a graduate of Syracuse University, Class of 1928, where she met her husband Robert G. Hill, founder of R. G. Hill Insurance Agency, he predeceased her in 1990.
She was the mother of Alice J. Maloney, Highland, NY, Barbara H. Lebhar, Hurley, NY, and David W. Hill, West Park, NY.
Having led a remarkable life, as the stabilizing influence on five generations of children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, her family held her in high esteem. She was sometimes referred to as "The Great Alice".
Owing to genetics and living modestly, she didn't take any medications or visit doctors. But she did enjoy a glass of red wine in the evening to celebrate the day.
Her life was devoted to supporting her husband and children. She was an avid skier, bridge player, gardener and hostess. She was former member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She enjoyed being over 100 years old, saying "There wasn't much peer pressure now". She never criticized, condemned or complained. Her gentle spirit and sense of humor benefited all that knew her.
