Alfred J. Brocco, formerly of Kingston, NY, died Friday, December 5, 2008 at the John Whittaker Assisted Living Center in Penacook, NH. He was 88.
He was born in Glasco on March 14, 1920, a son of the late George and Mary Mayone Brocco. Raised in Glasco, Mr. Brocco served in the US Army during WW II and then in the US Air Force during the Korean War.
He moved to Kingston and lived on Madison Avenue for 46 years and in 1999 to Dutch Village. For 29 years Mr. Brocco worked at I.B.M. in Kingston and Poughkeepsie. He retired in 1977 as a Second Level Manager in Manufacturing and belonged to the Quarter Century Club.
An active member of the Kingston Lions Club, Mr. Brocco served as President of the club in 1970-1971. He also served as President of the Kingston Lions Foundation and received the "Lion of the Year" award and was an honored recipient of the "Melvin Jones" award.
Mr. Brocco chaired the 1970 United Way Fund Drive. He was a parishioner of St. Joseph's Church, Kingston.
He moved to New Hampshire to be with his daughter in 2006.
His wife Mary Brocco died 1969; his wife Martina Brocco died 1997; his son Robert Brocco died 1948, his son Brother Alfred Brocco, C.F.C. died 1979. One granddaughter Erin Murphy died 1980; two brothers Thomas died 1970 and Charles died 1974 and one sister Theresa Cantiello died 1997.
Surviving are his daughter Sharon Murphy and her husband Frank of Concord, NH; his stepson Dieter Rauscher of Honolulu, Hawaii; three grandsons Sean and his wife Cecilia, Patrick and Kevin Murphy; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Reposing at the Simpson - Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave. on Thursday from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. The Kingston Lions Club will gather at 6:30 p.m. for a service.
The funeral procession will form on Friday at 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph's Church at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
