Alfonso Lenza, 92, formerly of Ulster Park, passed away Monday, February 27, 2012 at Mountain Valley Manor in Kingston. He was born October 26, 1919 in Contonusi, Italy to the late Raffael and Mary (Forlenza) Lenza.
He was married to Janice (Deutschendorf) Lenza who passed away on October 17th 2009. Al served his country in the United States Army during WWII. He worked as an assembler for IBM in Kingston and later Poughkeepsie before retiring in 1982. He was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Redeemer in Kingston, the Esopus American Legion Post 1298, the IBM Quarter Century Club and the Kingston Moose Lodge # 970.
Al is survived by his children; Alan J. Lenza and his wife Heidi of Saugerties, Phyllis Lynn Lenza of Plattekill, a grandson, Andrew "AJ" Lenza of Saugerties, as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents he is predeceased by his siblings, Louis, Gerald and Carmine Lenza, and Vincenza Vulpetti.
Entrusted to the care of Luke Keyser of Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, Inc., 326 Albany Avenue, Kingston, NY 12401, where friends may call on Tuesday from 4 - 7pm and Wednesday from 10 - 11am. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 am at the funeral home, with Rev. James Rowe, officiating.
