Alden "Auley" Roosa, 88, of Kingston, died Thursday, December 15, 2011 at the The Pines at Catskill. He was born December 26, 1922 in Lake Katrine, NY to the late Marshall and Annette (Rhinehart) Roosa.
He was married to his loving wife of 65 years, Etta (Atkins) Roosa, they wed on May 26th 1946.
Auley served his country in the United States Navy during World War II from 1939 until his honorable discharge in 1943.
He worked as a brake man for New York Central Rail Road and then later Conrail in Kingston for many years until his retirement in 1980.
Auley was a member of Joyce Sherrick Post # 1386 VFW, Lake Katrine Rod and Gun Club, and Lake Katrine American Legion. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved fishing, hunting, and gardening.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his daughters; Kittie Troiano and her husband Claude Jr. of Queensbury, NY and Jeri Oates-Aird and her husband Christopher of Athens, NY, grandchildren, Claude Troiano III and Jason Oates, great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Brooks, Nate Oates and Jackson Oates, as well as several nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his siblings, William Roosa and Jane Boice, and a granddaughter Kimberly Brooks.
Entrusted to the care of Luke Keyser, of A. Carr & Son Funeral Home, 65 Lucas Ave, Kingston, NY 12401 where friends may call on Saturday from 3 - 6 pm. The funeral service will follow at 6pm.
Burial will be private.
The family suggests in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to the Ulster County SPCA, 20 Wiedy Road, Kingston, NY 12401.
