Agnes M. Straub

Agnes Mary Straub, 90, of Kingston, passed peacefully Thursday morning, March 12, 2015 at Ten Broeck Commons, Lake Katrine, surrounded by her loving family. She was born December 27, 1924 in the Bronx, the daughter of the late John and Josephine Shekus.


She was the wife of the late Joseph J. Straub, he passed on March 12, 1983.


Agnes had been a dedicated and longtime switchboard supervisor at the Benedictine Hospital, retiring in 1985. She enjoyed keeping busy, and after retiring, she was a salesperson at Montgomery Wards.


She was a parishioner of St. Joseph's RC Church, was a member of the Leisure Club in the Town of Ulster and the Kingston Retirees. She enjoyed the groups, the travel and events, but the joy of her life was spending time with her children and grandchildren.


She was the devoted and loving mother of Judy Snyder of Palenville, Joseph "Jack" Straub of Kingston, Susan Crounce of Cohoes, Bruce Straub of Hurley and Barbara Panchak of Woodstock. She also has 10 loving grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter Nancy Davi and a grandson Ryan C. Panchak and sisters Anna Grimes, Mary Atzenbeck and Diana Valente.


Entrusted to the care of the A. Carr & Son Funeral Home, 65 Lucas Ave, Kingston. Friends may call on Monday from 4 - 8 pm at the funeral home. The procession will form Tuesday at 9:30 a.m at the funeral home. At 10:30 a.m. a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph's RC Church, burial will follow in Wiltwyck Cemetery.
