Adrien V. Pons

Adrien "Val" Pons, 80, of Ulster Park, N.Y. loving husband, father, and "Poppy" to four wonderful grandchildren has returned to his heavenly home Friday, January 30, 2015.

Val was born July 1, 1934 in Chelsea, New York City a son of Emile Pons and Anna Meytre. He attended and graduated from Chelsea high school in 1952. On October 11, 1959 he married Barbara Janice Van Hovenburg in Amenia, N.Y. Val was employed by IBM for 37 years as a systems analyst traveling throughout the United States and Canada designing and implementing some of the first computer systems used by NASA and on Wall Street. He enjoyed his work and had fond memories of his years with IBM. Val was blessed with a large and loving family that date back to his childhood growing up on 19th street in New York City. He cherished his time with his family and celebrated life and togetherness. Additionally, he shared many wonderful vacations with family in Europe, Mexico, Cape Cod, Cape May, and Florida.

He loved Joe DiMaggio and was a lifetime Yankees fan. He also enjoyed watching a good Giants football game. Val was a member of the French-Italian Waldensian Church of New York City. He also enjoyed gardening and had a love of nature working outdoors at his home in Ulster Park.

Val will be remembered as a selfless, kind, and loving friend to all and will be dearly missed by all his loved ones who are saddened but celebrate the fact he is at peace with the Lord.

Val is survived by his wife Barbara, his son Patrick and wife Brenda and daughter Adrienne and husband Rob as well as beloved grandchildren Valerie, Amanda, Ella, and Liam. He is predeceased by his loving sister Irene Favat.

He is entrusted to the care of Keyser Funeral Home, 216 Broadway, Port Ewen, New York. Calling hours will be Sunday, February 1st, 2015 from 1 to 5 p.m. Father Grohe will preside at the prayer service at 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Val's name to American Heart Association and SPCA.
