Adele Sherry, 85, of Fairfield, CT, formerly of Kingston, died May 24, 2014 at home.
Born in Brooklyn, she was a daughter of the late Albert & Augusta Lewis Gerofsky. Adele graduated from Kingston High School in 1946 and Suny Albany in 1950. She and her husband Norman were owners of the Broadway News Shop in Kingston. She was also a member of Congregation Ahavath Israel, B'Nai Br'ith and the World Zionist Organization. When she and Norman retired to Florida in 1989, she volunteered for many organizations. Adele was an avid reader and painter who loved to spend time with her family.
Adele is survived by her husband of 63 years, Norman Sherry of Fairfield, CT, whom she married on August 30, 1950, a daughter, Ellen Ashkins and her husband Keith of Fairfield, three grandchildren, David Sugerman, Sherry Ashkins and Elizabeth Ashkins. Four nephews and one niece also survive.
In addition to her parents, Adele was predeceased by her daughter, Ruth Sugerman.
A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at the Simpson-Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave at 12:00 noon. Interment will follow in Montrepose Cemetery.
