Richard L. Clark

Richard L. "Dick" Clark, Sr., 84, of Rayna St., Hurley, died Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at HealthAlliance Hosp. Broadway Campus Kingston. He was born October 8, 1928 in Middleboro, MA to the late Leslie N. and Marguerite C. Domina Clark. Mr. Clark attended Middleboro H.S. and served in the army from 1946 -1949, proud of his service during the Berlin Airlift. He returned to school to complete his education and graduating in the Class of 1950. He re-entered the army during Korea and served on detached duty to the navy in Naples, Italy from 1951-1954. He continued to serve in the reserves, retiring in October, 1988. In February of 1958, he joined IBM and retired as a programmer in 1987. He was a life-member of the NRA, Joyce-Schirick Post 1386 VFW and Overlook Mt. Amateur Radio Society. He was a member of the American Radio Relay League with the call sign of K2LF. He was a member of Kingston American Legion Post 150 and was a NRA hand gun safety instructor and a NYS hunter safety instructor. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Sampson Clark of Hurley; two sons, Richard L. Clark Jr. and William J. Clark II, both of Port Ewen and a brother, James Clark of Fillmore, CA. Seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren also survive. A son, Robert S. Clark and two brothers, Norman and Maurice Clark died previously. Entrusted to the care of Paul Geary of A. Carr & Son Funeral Home, 65 Lucas Ave., Kingston where friends will be received on Saturday from 2- 4 & 6-8 PM. American Legion Post 150 will gather at 7:00 PM and Joyce-Schirick Post 1386 VFW will gather at 7:15 PM to conduct ritualistic services. A funeral service will be conducted at 7:30 PM by Rev. Kendra VanHouten. Inurnment will take place in Hope's Rest Cemetery, So. Middleboro, MA. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Hurley Rescue Squad, 1 Firehouse Lane, Hurley, NY 12443.
